Analyzing Ohio’s Chapel Hill Business Park: A Breakdown of Square Footage and More

The former Chapel Hill Mall, located on Brittain Road, Buchholzer Boulevard, Howe and Independence avenues in Akron, has undergone a significant transformation. Once a massive 900,000 square feet mall, the complex is now owned by Industrial Commercial Properties (ICP) and Storage of America. The mall has been transformed into a business park that spans 715,000 square feet on 60 acres of land. In addition to the main complex owned by ICP at 2000 Brittain Road, Storage of America owns a 169,000 square foot building at the former Macy’s location on 8 acres of land.

The revitalization of the former Chapel Hill Mall has been promising since its closure in 2021. Despite the changes that have taken place, there are still opportunities for businesses to lease space in the park as 40,826 square feet remain available. Four new businesses have already been established in the complex since its closure. It is worth noting that Storage of America had already purchased the former Macy’s building in 2019 before the mall closed down. Overall, the former Chapel Hill Mall has seen a promising transition into a thriving business park under new ownership.
