German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck arrived in Kiev on Thursday for a visit focusing on Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, emergency aid, and strengthening the country’s economy. The trip coincides with Germany’s upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, which will be hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Upon arrival, Habeck emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine in its “fight for freedom,” highlighting the country’s struggle for self-determination, territorial integrity, and European values against Russian aggression. In Kiev, Habeck is scheduled to meet with President Zelensky, Deputy Prime Minister and Economics Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, and Energy Minister German Galushchenko, among others.
The business delegation accompanying Habeck is expected to discuss economic cooperation between Germany and Ukraine as well as ways to improve the Ukrainian economy. This trip underscores Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and its neighboring countries in the face of Russian aggression and promoting stability and prosperity in the region.
