Ford’s Commercial Truck Division Is Bucking the Trend of Declining EV Sales

Chris Russo, the co-founder of Elite Home Care in South Carolina, has been thriving in the electric vehicle market despite challenges facing many other markets. Russo purchased his first EV over two years ago – a Ford E-Transit van that is essential for his business transporting senior citizens. Since then, he has added many more electric vehicles to his fleet, almost completely electrifying his 100-vehicle operation.

Russo estimates saving $6,500 per year per EV compared to gas-powered vehicles of the same size, thanks to lower fuel and maintenance costs. With 100 chargers at his vehicle depot, his fleet can run efficiently and effectively without any concerns about charging infrastructure.

Despite challenges facing the wider market, some businesses are fully embracing electric vehicles and demonstrating their potential to transform commercial operations at scale. Russo’s success highlights how a strong commitment to sustainability and cost savings can drive innovation and growth in the EV market.
