Caleb Truax, a native of Osseo, Minnesota, has retired from boxing. At the age of 40, he believes that boxing is a young man’s sport and it’s time to hang up his gloves. The decision was finalized after his last fight, a loss in June last year, where he felt that he was slowing down during the match.
Truax is a former world champion and achieved one of the highlights of his career in 2017 when he pulled off an upset in a super middleweight title fight against James DeGale in London, England. Despite growing up playing baseball and football, Truax did not start boxing until he was 19. He expresses gratitude for the sport as he was able to travel the world, make lifelong friends and achieve success in his boxing career.
With a record of 31-6-2, Truax has had numerous fights in venues such as the Armory in Minneapolis and other places in Minnesota. He credits the support of Minnesota fans for his success and acknowledges the excitement of fighting in front of hometown crowds. While reflecting on his career, Truax describes it as a remarkable journey filled with memorable moments.
Truax’s retirement marks the end of 20 years of dedication to boxing and he is ready to move on to other endeavors. Despite saying goodbye to boxing, he is grateful for the experiences and opportunities the sport has provided him.
