The event will be hosted by Lauren Averett Byers, M.D., and Koichi Takahashi, M.D., Ph.D., both from MD Anderson Cancer Center. The featured speakers include Nicole M. Gaudelli, Ph.D., an entrepreneur at GV who invented the Adenine Base Editor, a gene-editing tool, and Kellie Jurado, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Pennsylvania researching immune system response to viral infections in early life. Bianca Jones Marlin, Ph.D., from Columbia University, investigates the inheritance of trauma and stress biologically, while Siddhartha Roy, Ph.D., from Rutgers University, focuses on ensuring safe drinking water access for all in light of the Flint Water Crisis.
