In December, Google announced that it would be discontinuing its content platform Google Podcasts by 2024. Last September, the company had stated that they would focus on investing in this format within YouTube Music and provide tools to creators interested in transferring their content experience to this platform.
Google has recently updated its support website with new information regarding the discontinuation of Google Podcasts. The service will end in the United States in April 2024, but users outside the US will have access until mid-to-late June 2024. All users worldwide will have the opportunity to migrate or export their subscriptions until July 29, 2024. This can be done directly from the app by utilizing the ‘Export subscriptions’ button on the screen’s top page.
For those interested in transitioning to YouTube Music, there is also an ‘Export to YouTube Music’ option available on the app. Users must have the YouTube Music application installed to migrate their subscriptions smoothly. This process aims to streamline and facilitate the transition for Google Podcasts users as they move to another platform for their content consumption.
