The departure of several key players from JMU Football’s team is closely being monitored as the spring portal activity progresses. While no new transfers have been announced yet, the team has seen several notable departures.
Tyrique Tucker, a defensive tackle who played in all 13 games in 2023 and was projected as a starter in 2024, has left the program with three years of eligibility remaining. Sammy Malignaggi, a backup running back and kick returner who saw limited playing time last season, also departs the team due to transfer additions at running back. Solomon Vanhorse, a versatile player at returner and running back who was likely behind Ayo Adeyi and George Pettaway on the depth chart, has also left.
Collin Carroll, a tight end who redshirted in 2023 due to an injury, is leaving the program in search of more playing time. Wesley Bostic, an offensive lineman with three years of eligibility left, has entered the transfer portal as a reserve lineman not projected to see significant playing time in 2024.
