The International World Games Association (IWGA) has confirmed that Karlsruhe, Germany will be hosting the 13th edition of The World Games in 2029. This marks the first time that Karlsruhe has organized this event twice, as it previously hosted it in 1989.
Karlsruhe’s commitment to hosting international sporting events was reaffirmed by IWGA President José Perurena, who praised the excellent conditions provided for athletes in past events in the city. The upcoming edition of The World Games will take place in the summer of 2029 and will feature around 3,000 world-class athletes from over 100 countries and regions competing in about 35 sports.
Germany’s strong support for The World Games was underscored by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), which nominated Karlsruhe for this flagship event. Located in south-western Germany, near the French border and at the heart of Europe, Karlsruhe is an ideal location for this global sports festival.
