The Kentucky River Health Consortium recently held an event called “Picking up the Pieces” at the Perry County Public Library. The goal of the event was to make a positive impact in the Kentucky River Region by providing support and advice for families and friends dealing with addiction and chronic diseases such as diabetes.
The event brought together various entities, including the Center of Excellence in Rural Health, to offer guidance and resources for individuals struggling with these issues. Frances Feltner, Director of the Center of Excellence, emphasized the importance of community support and collaboration in addressing addiction and chronic diseases.
During the event, several topics were discussed, including Casey’s Law, a tool that can be used by family members to help loved ones struggling with addiction. Andrew, a man who overcame substance abuse with the help of his family and Casey’s Law, shared his experience and highlighted the importance of never giving up on someone who is battling addiction.
Andrew credited his family and Casey’s Law for saving his life after years of struggling with addiction. He emphasized how important it is to provide support and resources for those who are struggling with addiction in order to help them overcome their challenges.
The Kentucky River Health Consortium aims to raise awareness about addiction and chronic diseases in the Kentucky River Region while also providing support and solutions for individuals and families affected by these issues.
