As part of a larger investment program to modernize its cardboard factory, Metsä Board, a company within the Metsä Group, has announced an investment in the renovation of the folding carton machine located in Simpele. The value of this investment is approximately EUR 60 million and will be spread over the years 2024–2026.
The decision to invest in the renovation of the folding board machine in Simpele is aimed at improving the quality of the folding board and increasing production efficiency while also enabling the replacement of fossil fuels in the production process. Following the renovation, the factory’s production capacity will increase by about 10,000 tons, bringing the annual production capacity of Simpele folding carton to approximately 310,000 tons.
