Owensboro Public Schools has recently appointed Chad Alward as its new Director of Technology. With over 16 years of administrative experience, Alward has held various leadership roles such as assistant principal at different schools, director of the K-8 Virtual Academy within Daviess County Public Schools, and District Instructional Technology Coordinator at Ohio County Schools. Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Daviess County High School, Alward is thrilled to join the team at OPS and looks forward to collaborating with technicians, students, teachers, administrators, and the community to enhance the district’s success and uphold its tradition.
As the Director of Technology, Alward will be responsible for providing vision and leadership in implementing and maintaining information technology initiatives district-wide. His primary focus will be on enhancing collaboration and growth among staff and students, with the aim of preparing students for success in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
Alward emphasized the importance of empowering students to think critically and become creators rather than just consumers of technology. He aims to create an environment that encourages the use of technology to support learning and skill development, preparing students for the challenges of the future.
Interim OPS superintendent Anita Burnette praised Alward as a highly qualified candidate for the position, citing his extensive experience and ability to adapt to technological advancements. Burnette noted that Alward’s leadership and innovative approach to technology education will further establish the district as a leader in the field.
