Fullerton and Becerra Lead Compound Qualifying in Shanghai 2024

Ella Gibson held the world record for the women’s compound archery event with 715 points. Becerra attempted to break her record but fell short, scoring 713 points instead. Despite not setting a new record, Becerra was pleased with her performance as most of her shots were very close to the center. She focused on staying in her zone and not getting too caught up in the score.

Qualifying in the top spot was a major goal for Becerra, and she achieved it. Her main competitors include Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Sara Lopez, and Aditi Swami, who qualified in eighth place with 704 points. There was no top-64 cut in the compound women’s competition, while Jesse Sut won a shoot-off to secure the last spot in the bracket for the compound men’s event. Korea qualified in first place for both compound men’s and mixed team events, while India took pole position in the compound women’s team event.

The competition will continue with compound team eliminations in the morning followed by recurve qualifying in the afternoon. The top eight qualifiers from each event receive bonus points towards the Hyundai Archery World Cup Ranking.
