Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) has recently launched a new temporary food establishment permit and online application system. This innovative system is designed to streamline the permitting and inspection process, while also ensuring the safety of the food being served to the community. The new system will make it easier and more convenient for vendors to stay in compliance for upcoming special events.
Starting July 1, vendors who operate at more than five special events in a calendar year will have the option to use one permit for the entire year, rather than obtaining a new permit for each event. This will save vendors time and money, while also reducing paperwork and red tape. The new permit type is expected to help NNPH quickly identify and address any violations or issues that arise during special events.
Kristen deBraga, Senior Environmental Health Specialist at NNPH, believes that this new permit type will be a game-changer for both vendors and public health officials. “By providing vendors with an easy-to-use online application system, we can ensure that they are able to comply with regulations quickly and efficiently,” she said. “At the same time, our inspectors can focus on identifying potential hazards and ensuring that food safety standards are met.”
To provide more information about the new permit system and answer any questions, NNPH will be hosting a public forum on May 7 at 5:30 p.m. at their Conference Rooms A/B located at 1001 E. 9th Street, Building B.
