Police body camera footage captures officers rescuing dogs at Fairfield business complex

On a Saturday night, a dramatic incident occurred at a business complex on Bloomfield Avenue near Route 46 in Fairfield. A fire broke out in a nearby convenience and smoke shop, which quickly spread to other businesses in the area, including a kennel.

The police were alerted and rushed to the scene without any fire safety equipment. Despite this, the brave officers entered the Pio Costa Industrial Complex to rescue the dogs trapped inside. A video has emerged showing the officers breaking through a security door to gain access to the kennels, where they quickly began searching for and rescuing the animals.

Unfortunately, one officer had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation as a result of the rescue operation. However, all 46 dogs were successfully rescued and taken to a different facility where they were checked out by a veterinarian. The quick and brave actions of the police officers ensured that all the animals were safe and out of harm’s way.
