Towson senior swimmer Brian Benzing has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the classroom and in the pool. On Wednesday, Benzing was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team, with a 3.76 GPA. He is majoring in sports marketing, demonstrating his dedication to both academics and athletics.
Throughout his swimming career at Towson, Benzing has been a standout performer. He was named the CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, becoming only the third swimmer in history to achieve this feat. At the NCAA Championship, Benzing received All-America honors after finishing second in the 100 breast with a record-setting time of 50.59. In the 200 breast, he was an honorable mention All-American, setting a CAA record with a time of 1:52.71 in the prelims. Additionally, Benzing placed 23rd in the 200 IM at the NCAA’s, setting another CAA record with a time of 1:42.82.
