Missile Attack by Russian Army Causes Damage to Thermal Power Plant and Psychiatric Hospital in Ukraine

On the night of April 27, Russian troops launched a combined missile strike on Ukraine, according to Meduza, citing a statement by Nikolai Oleshchuk, commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian military used a total of 34 air, ground, and sea-based missiles in the attack. This included various types of missiles such as cruise missiles, guided air missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, aeroballistic missiles, and others.

During the attack on Kharkov, one woman was injured when three S-300 missiles hit the third psychiatric hospital. The hospital buildings were damaged due to windows, roofs and interior decorations being destroyed by these missiles. It’s reported that 21 Russian missiles were destroyed during this attack.

The Lviv region saw two critical energy infrastructure facilities being targeted during the strike. These attacks led to fires and destruction at some facilities but fortunately no residential infrastructure was damaged. Unfortunately there were injuries reported among employees at these targeted energy facilities. Similarly in Dnepropetrovsk region also experienced attacks on energy facilities which led to fires and interruptions in water supply while no residential infrastructure was damaged here too. Overall this combined missile strike had severe consequences on various regions in Ukraine with damage to hospitals and energy infrastructure along with injuries among civilians and workers.

It’s important to note that Russia has been accused by Ukraine of multiple human rights violations during its invasion of Ukraine since February 2014. These include extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances, torture, and unlawful detention of civilians among other things.

According to reports from human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, Russian forces have been responsible for widespread human rights abuses against Ukrainian citizens during their ongoing conflict with pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.

In addition to this conflict, Russia has also been accused by international bodies such as the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 71/58 for its role in the illegal annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in March 2014.

It is crucial that international community takes necessary actions against Russia for its violation of human rights and international law.
