As a violent storm hit the city of Starnberg, causing widespread flooding, the district town was particularly affected. Within just five minutes, up to seven liters of water per square meter fell, leading to impassable streets and stranded drivers in the city center. The fire department responded to over 50 missions as the B2 highway had to be closed due to extreme weather conditions.
Major roads like the B2 and A 952 were temporarily impassable, leading to traffic backups for kilometers. Emergency services also had to respond to incidents in Pöcking and other nearby areas. The sewerage system struggled to handle the excess water, leading to flooding in various properties throughout the area.
Despite these challenges, the community came together to support one another and address the aftermath of the storm. The district fire inspection set up its operations center in the district office and called for assistance from neighboring fire departments. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries, but events like French Week in Starnberg had to be cancelled due to severe weather conditions.
