As the 2024 season approaches, the Texas Longhorns are anticipating great things. Their roster is full of top talent, especially at key positions such as quarterback Quinn Ewers, left tackle Kelvin Banks, and several skilled defensive linemen and edge rushers. Despite losing several players to the NFL, they are still considered one of the best teams in the country alongside Ohio State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama and Oregon.
Recently, CBS Sports released their list of the top 100 college football players, with five Longhorns making the cut. Kelvin Banks was the first Texas player to appear on the list at No. 10, just behind LSU’s Will Campbell as the second highest-rated tackle in the country. Isaiah Bond followed at No. 14 and Quinn Ewers came in at No. 15. Ewers is recognized as one of the top returning quarterbacks in the nation and ranks fourth behind Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Georgia’s Carson Beck.
The Longhorns’ roster is being closely watched as they make their transition into SEC play. Kelvin Banks showcased his talent at No. 10 while Isaiah Bond demonstrated his potential to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. CJ Baxter, Trey Moore also made it to CBS Sports’ list of top 100 college football players. These players have a lot to live up to but with their skills and potential they have high expectations for next season that will set them apart from other teams in their conference .
