In the second round of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup held on April 18th, Chromatic BF, a 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by breeder KC Branscomb and Branscomb Farms LLC, finished third. Ridden by Jill Humphrey, Chromatic BF had posted a time of 48.36 seconds in the seven-horse jump-off to secure a podium spot. The pair was fifth in the overall standings after finishing 12th on Wednesday.
Tragically, Chromatic BF collapsed and died in the stabling area following their impressive performance on Thursday. The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) announced the news of his death. Despite receiving immediate medical attention from both U.S. Equestrian veterinary staff and FEI veterinarians, Chromatic BF could not be resuscitated.
In accordance with FEI veterinary regulations, samples have been taken from the horse to determine the cause of his sudden death. The U.S. Equestrian Federation expressed its deepest condolences to Jill Humphrey, KC Branscomb, Branscomb Farm LLC, his groom Pepe Rodriguez, and everyone else involved in Chromatic BF’s care and competition journey.
