The British public and those in positions of power are often preoccupied with a question that no one is willing to ask directly: how is King Charles truly feeling? According to some reports, things are not going well for the sovereign, and his staff is not being entirely truthful about his condition.
In an article published today by The Daily Beast, it is reported that Charles is struggling with anti-tumor treatments and that Buckingham Palace has made changes to the official protocol for his funeral, known as “Menai Bridge.” Insiders claim that the situation has worsened and that an old family friend told The Daily Beast, “Of course he is determined to beat the cancer. Everyone remains optimistic, but he is really very sick. More than they let on.”
It has also been reported that plans for Charles’ funeral are being updated regularly and that there are discussions taking place in Whitehall regarding what went right after the Queen’s funeral and what could be improved for the next monarch’s funeral. The Cabinet Office, which is responsible for state funerals, has refused to comment on claims that the Operation Menai Bridge document (Charles’ funeral plan) is regularly updated. They emphasize that not commenting on such plans is routine.
