The Weatherly Area School Board recently made several changes to their staff. Kristen Ritter, who had been working as a part-time cafeteria aide, was transferred to a full-time assistant business manager position. Ritter, who returned to work last August after taking time off to raise her children, brings 12 years of banking experience to her new role. She will be working alongside outgoing business manager Leann Sites, whose last day is scheduled for May 21. The board approved Sites’ resignation at a meeting held on April 10 and expressed their gratitude for her service.
In addition to the business manager changes, the board also made other personnel decisions. Lori Giannakouros was hired as a substitute cafeteria aide, Courtney Marscicano was hired as a part-time paraprofessional, and Dianne Paisley was hired as a substitute teacher, pending all clearances. The search for a new business manager is still ongoing.
During committee reports, the Property committee discussed necessary work on the school grounds, including drainage issues and the condition of the old tennis courts. Plans to add more dirt to the softball field were shared, along with estimates for drainage work and the removal of old tennis courts. The athletics committee chairman, Ryan Binder, reported positive feedback from winter coaches during exit interviews and thanked them for their dedication.
The board also announced that Jeanine Snyder, the manager of food services for the Nutrition Group at Weatherly Area, will be leaving her position on May 1 after seven years of service. Board member Bonnie Barbush commended Snyder for her work and expressed appreciation for her contributions.
Future meetings of the WASB are scheduled for Wednesdays, May 1 and 8, at 6 p.m. in the Middle School LGI room.
