Co-Founder of Xiaomi Purchases Tesla Model Y Following Test of FSD Technology in the United States

In late April, Xiaomi co-founder Lin Bin tested Tesla’s full self-driving (FSD) software V12 in the United States. He shared his experience on Chinese social media platform Weibo, expressing his amazement at how the driving felt similar to that of a human driver. This week, Lin Bin posted a picture of a white Model Y, stating that he had acquired the vehicle and was excited to test out the FSD software himself.

During his demo drive, Lin Bin described the experience as very human-like. He detailed the route taken, from the parking lot to the highway, merging into traffic, and navigating through the city back to the starting point. He highlighted that the software did not rely on high-precision maps or LIDAR technology, but instead was based on pure visual modeling.

The version 12 of the FSD software is said to be ready for supervised use in left-hand drive countries, with right-hand drive countries expected to follow suit later on. Lin Bin expressed his anticipation for testing the software in more crowded areas, impressed by the capabilities he witnessed during his initial drive.

Lin Bin has recently been involved in Xiaomi’s launch of its first electric vehicle model and has also acknowledged Tesla’s advancements in assisted driving technology. Other industry leaders like Xpeng’s CEO have also predicted a focus on smart cars in the upcoming decade.

In China, Tesla has introduced its Enhanced Autopilot subscription service and CEO Elon Musk has hinted at full self-driving capabilities being available soon. Additionally, Musk mentioned that assisted driving software for Cybertruck is just a few months away. These developments indicate an increasing focus on advanced autonomous driving technologies in the automotive industry.

Overall, it seems that there is growing interest in autonomous vehicles and their ability to improve road safety and reduce congestion. As more companies invest in this field and develop new technologies, we can expect to see more electric vehicles with advanced self-driving features become available for consumers.

Lin Bin’s experience testing Tesla’s FSD software highlights how far technology has come when it comes to autonomous driving systems. With further improvements and advancements being made every day
