Adam Guettel’s long-awaited musical “Millions” is set to have its world premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta as part of the company’s 2024-2025 season. The musical, based on the novel and film by Frank Cottrell Boyce, tells the story of two brothers who find a duffel bag of cash while coping with the loss of their mother. With a book by Bob Martin and music and lyrics by Guettel, the production will reunite Guettel with director Bartlett Sher, who previously worked together on “The Light in the Piazza.” Performances are scheduled to run from May 10 to June 15, 2025.
As part of its upcoming season, the Alliance Theatre will feature several world premieres. Milo Cramer’s “Business Ideas” will be directed by Matt Torney and run from November 16 to December 15, 2024. Jake Brasch’s “The Reservoir,” a co-production with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Geffen Playhouse, will be directed by Shelley Butler and run from March 29 to May 4, 2025.
The season will also include new stagings of Katori Hall’s “The Mountaintop,” directed by Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, from August 30 to September
