Thanasis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks to have surgery on torn Achilles injury

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s older brother Thanasis has been reported to undergo surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. This news was announced by Shams Charania of The Athletic. Thanasis, who plays alongside his brother on the Milwaukee Bucks team, recently participated in the final playoff game against the Pacers, but the injury occurred during a workout this week. As a result, he will miss out on playing with the Greek national team as they strive to qualify for the Olympics.

Last year, when Giannis did not play for the Greek team, Thanos had a more significant role. However, with his injury, he is likely to miss most, if not all, of the next NBA season. At 31 years old, Thanos has been a part of the Bucks for five years and played 34 games this season. Despite signing several one-year contracts to remain with the team, his injury raises questions about his future with the Bucks. The team may have to reconsider their approach considering he won’t be able to play for an entire year.
