Kajima Corporation Reduces Carbon Emissions in 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo Dome Construction with Low-Carbon Concrete

Kajima Corporation has recently announced a major reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for the construction of a concrete dome for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The company plans to use a type of low-carbon concrete that reduces emissions by 70% compared to conventional construction methods.

The dome will be built in the West Gate Zone of the expo venue and will serve as an exhibition space on environmental education. The construction is set to commence in April and be completed in November 2024.

The dome will be made of reinforced concrete, standing 5.45 meters in height with an oval shape and a diameter of 23 by 18 meters. By utilizing low-carbon concrete along with a technology that absorbs CO2 during manufacturing, Kajima anticipates achieving a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions.
