The Rangers secure a close 5-4 victory against the Tigers

On Wednesday, the Texas Rangers emerged victorious over the Detroit Tigers with a 5-4 win. The deciding moment came in the ninth inning when Josh Smith delivered a clutch pinch-hit double, driving in the winning run after Ezequiel Duran singled and advanced to second on an error by first baseman Spencer Torkelson.

Kirby Yates earned the win for the Rangers by pitching the final four outs, including striking out the side in the ninth inning. Meanwhile, Detroit’s Shelby Miller took the loss as the Tigers committed three errors, leading to two unearned runs.

The game began with an error by Tarik Skubal that allowed Marcus Semien to reach base, eventually scoring on Adolis Garcia’s sacrifice fly. Kerry Carpenter tied the game for the Tigers with a home run in the second inning.
