The In The Path of Totality Initiative by the Simons Foundation made it possible for the memorable Totality 2024 Festival in Hannibal, NY to take place. Ambient/New Age music legend Laraaji was one of the performers at the festival. During his performance of his Sun Piano/Moon Piano albums, he shared insights about representing the moon’s energy in 12 musical notes, reflecting on his time at Howard University in the 1960s and his experience observing the Total Solar Eclipse.
Cornell University Astronomer Dr. Nikole Lewis also participated in the event, discussing topics like extraterrestrial life and Carl Sagan. She talked about the necessary conditions for a Total Solar Eclipse to occur, providing an educational experience for those who attended the festival.
