Threads Surpasses 150 Million Monthly Users

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced that its text-based social media platform, Threads, has surpassed 150 million monthly active users. Mark Zuckerberg founded the app in July 2023 and launched it in over 100 countries. The standout feature of Threads is its ability to publish messages of up to 500 characters, which exceeds the limit on platforms like Twitter. Users can also enhance their posts with photos, videos up to five minutes long, and web links.

Despite facing challenges in Europe related to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and data privacy concerns, Threads has experienced significant growth, with 10 million signups within the first seven hours of its launch. Susan Li, CFO at Meta, noted that the platform’s popularity is due to its introduction of new features and expansion into new communities.

However, a recent development has impacted the availability of Threads in China as Apple removed it from the App Store along with other messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram due to national security concerns raised by the Cyberspace Administration of China.

On a different note, backlinks are becoming increasingly important for SEO efforts. A link building agency can help improve a website’s ranking in search results by enhancing visibility and driving traffic to a site through effective link building strategies.
