On Tuesday night, UConn shut out K-State 4-0 at Elliot Ballpark. The Wildcats struggled to build an inning and put pressure on UConn’s offense, with head coach Pete Hughes mentioning the team’s difficulties in this regard. UConn executed the necessary matchups and made crucial plays to secure the win.

Andrew Evans took the loss after giving up two runs in the third inning, while Ty Ruhl had a solid outing in relief. Ruhl struck out two and held the Huskies scoreless in his first appearance since February. In contrast, Joe Cinnella of UConn was able to hold K-State to just two hits and got the win in relief. K-State dropped its fourth consecutive game and was shut out for the first time in a while.

Five different Wildcats recorded hits in the game, including an extra-base hit from Jaden Parsons. Despite some offensive opportunities, K-State couldn’t capitalize and UConn extended their lead over the final three innings. The Wildcats were set to play Northeastern and return home for a series against Oklahoma State later in the week.
