KWU Student Selected to Participate in Discussion on High School Sports Coverage

Aubreigh Heck, a senior student at Kansas Wesleyan University, has been invited to participate in a breakout session at the Kansas Collegiate Media state convention on April 22 at Wichita State University. The session will focus on the importance of covering local sports, particularly high school sports, and how some of the best and most rewarding sports journalism is carried out at the local level.

As editor-in-chief at KWU Student Media and with a double major in Communications and Public Relations, Heck brings a unique perspective to the panel discussion. She will share her insights on covering sports as a woman and discuss the challenges she has faced while covering high school sports in Hutchinson and Salina.

Joining Heck in the session are other experienced panelists such as Scott Paske from the Kansas State High School Activities Association and formerly of the Wichita Eagle, Charles Chaney from The El Dorado Times-Gazette, and Joel Muhs from the McPherson Sentinel. Together, they will provide a comprehensive view of the importance and challenges of covering local sports in journalism.
